Photo Tip #115:
The Coolest Photo Apps for Your Phone
|
 |
Greetings Fellow Photographers!
With so many new photo apps coming out these days, I thought I would take a little time to write about some of my favorite apps! Photo apps let you do a number of things, including take photos, edit photos, use various lenses, and even order photos from your phone to the store down the street. Note that a lot of the coolest and most popular apps are only available on the iPhone currently, mainly because people have been developing iPhone apps longer than other phone platforms like Android and Windows. But other cool photo apps are coming out for other phones as well. Read on for some of my favorites!

The concept behind the Best Camera app is, "The best camera is the one you have with you." Sometimes, your phone is the only camera you have to capture a moment. The Best Camera app lets you quickly shoot, edit, and share photos from your iPhone. Choose from a number of different filters to enhance your photos, and share them to a number of different sites. The app costs $2.99.

Path
Path is a photo sharing app that allows you to take photos and videos and share them with your close family and friends. Unlike other apps, Path focuses on personal relationships so you can share your life with a small group of people, and not your entire social network. Add captions and emoticons, and even chat live with other people you share with who have the app installed. Path is a free app for iPhone.

Thanks to everyone that has shared their photos with me! Here are a few shots
that stood out...
"I received my first email from you after I took this picture. I hope to learn from your email; however, I just registered to print this one out in 16X20 on canvas and it look great. If you do not use this picture it is OK. I'm sure you receive more than enough to share, but I will continue taking pics and once in a while share with you and relay the points I received from you. I took this picture as I was leaving for work. I rolled down my window and took several shots. This was by far the best. I am getting back into photography. While in Vietnam I had a Canon and took many pictures. I shot in manual mode most of the time and made my setting by watching the light meter and changing anything that could be turned until the light meter showed I was in the center. Now I am trying to learn about ISO, f-stop, etc. to get good pictures. I do not compose well but am improving. This shot is the first of hundreds taken that composition and lighting came together at the same time. I am not a professional...I just enjoy the hobby. Thanks!"
