LifePics today announced support for camera phones as part of its online imaging solution. Camera phone users will now be able to take pictures with their phones and send the photos using LifePics' technology to their favorite local photofinisher where the pictures will be ready a short time later. It also will allow camera phone users to transfer their pictures from their phone to the photofinisher's web site where the pictures can be edited, made into holiday cards, shared, and saved for years to come.
"This is the ultimate in convenience," said Rick Patch, LifePics' CEO. "You shoot pictures on the go, and the photos are waiting for you when you drop by your local photofinisher. This is a huge opportunity for photofinishers in the LifePics network. All the forecasts show hundreds of millions of camera phones being sold over the next couple years. If it is convenient to make prints and preserve photos from a camera phone, consumers will do so."
The LifePics camera phone interface will be packaged with the LifePics Retail solution for photofinishers. The Retail solution allows photofinishers to accept orders from consumers and professional photographers via the Internet and to send those orders directly to the photofinishing lab for printing.
The LifePics camera phone solution is a multi-platform application that works with virtually any wireless image capture device that connects to the Internet.
