LifePics Announces Two Major Integrations with Android and iPhoto, Allowing Users to Easily Order Photos from Android Phones or iPhoto Accounts

Boulder, CO, June 14th, 2011

LifePics today announced the releases of the updated LifePics: View & Order Photos Android app and LifePics iPhoto Uploader/Exporter plugin, which allow Android and iPhoto users to quickly and easily order photos from Android phones or iPhoto to any retailer in the LifePics Network. The updated Android app now includes the ability to order photos directly from the app, while the iPhoto plugin exports images from iPhoto to a LifePics online photo account for users to order or use on creative photo products like photo books, photo calendars, or photo cards. The LifePics Android app and iPhoto plugin were both released through the LifePics OPEN program, a public API program that lets third party developers and partners create apps and plugins that send photo orders to LifePics retailers.

"We are very pleased with our custom LifePics App for iPhone and iPad ordering, and are excited to expand into additional Apple product integration through the new LifePics iPhoto plugin, as well as be able to receive orders from Android users through the LifePics Android photo ordering app," said Mike Woodland, Co-Owner of Dan's Camera City. "LifePics' commitment to developing new apps and integrations gives us exponentially more exposure and ordering streams from dozens of new sources we didn't have before. Between the iPhone and iPad apps, the Android app, the Facebook ordering app, the Windows Phone 7 app, and now the iPhoto plugin, hundreds of millions of people are just a few clicks away from becoming new customers for our business."

The updated Android app is the third mobile app from LifePics that allows users to order photos from a mobile device to any store in the LifePics Network. The company previously released similar apps on for iPhone/iPad and Windows Phone 7. LifePics is the only company offering photo ordering apps across all three major mobile platforms. With the launch of the updated Android app, Android users can now enjoy the benefits of printing photos locally from their Android phones, including fast one hour turnaround times, the convenience of working with trusted photofinishers, and the ability to select from more than 13,000 different pick up locations in the LifePics Network. Users of the LifePics iPhoto plugin can enjoy these same benefits when ordering photos exported by the plugin. The LifePics Android app works on all Android phones, and the iPhoto plugin works on iPhoto versions 10 and above. Both the Android app and iPhoto plugin allow users to connect to an existing LifePics online photo account or create a new account for free.

"We are thrilled to announce these two exciting integrations," said Vahe Christianian, Vice President of Sales and Business Development at LifePics. "Android and iPhone are the two mobile platform retailers absolutely have to be integrated with, so we are excited about our new Android photo ordering app and its ability to generate new exposure and business for our retailers. Also, exporting photos from iPhoto to any other photo account has always been a huge pain point for iPhoto users, but our new plugin makes the process much easier and more intuitive. Users of both Android and iPhoto can now enjoy one hour or same day service from their trusted local photofinisher rather than paying extra shipping fees and waiting a week for their orders to arrive."

Ken McDonald, Vice President of Marketing and Customer Success at LifePics, will be speaking at the upcoming Internet Retailer conference in San Diego on Friday, June 17, 2011. Attend his session to learn more about Android app development and the mobile app market.
