LifePics announces that it has changed its consumer pricing model and is now offering consumers free accounts. Under the new plan, consumers can upload, edit, share, and print as much as they want with their free accounts. Long term storage will be offered for a small fee to those consumers who want to permanently preserve their images to LifePics’ secure data center.
"We have been seeing a tremendous increase in the number of online orders coming through our dealer network," said Ken McDonald, VP of Marketing and Operations at LifePics. "However, our dealers told us that we needed to remove the membership fee to continue the growth."
"Removing the membership fee is critical for us," said Pete Steuart of Creve Coeur Camera. "Many of our customers want to send us their orders online, but the membership fee was becoming a barrier. Giving consumers free accounts will greatly enhance the number of orders we receive through the LifePics service."
LifePics also announces that they raised additional capital from a combination of existing and new investors. "We have been experiencing explosive growth," stated Rick Patch, CEO at LifePics. "Since the early summer we have increased the number of dealers in our network by 60% and the number of professional photographers by 400%. At the same time we have made numerous changes to the service including adding Photo Tidings’ templates, changing the consumer pricing model, and improving the user interface. We needed this capital to support the growth and to continue to rapidly advance the technology."
