LifePics Launches OPEN Program, Allowing App Developers and Affiliate Partners to Drive Orders to LifePics Retailers Using a Revenue Share Economics Model

LifePics announced today the launch of its new OPEN (Open Photo Ecommerce Network) program, which gives app developers and affiliate partners the ability to drive new users, images, and orders into the LifePics Retail Network and pays OPEN program partners a revenue share percentage for every order the partner generates. The program is designed to drive more orders to LifePics retailers from all over the Internet.

"Open APIs can encourage development of countless applications that the vendors alone may never imagine -- Apple's iPhone platform is a prime example," said Alan Bullock, Associate Director at InfoTrends. "With the OPEN program, LifePics is taking its service to the next level, removing traditional boundaries in terms of consumers' access to their photos and where orders to its retail photo printing network can come from."

Once accepted into the program, app developers will be given access to the LifePics API to link into the LifePics Network, while affiliate partners will be given a simple string of code that sends users into the LifePics Network from the affiliate site or software tool. LifePics will release links to existing apps and affiliate sites as a reference for potential OPEN program partners, including the LifePics iPhone app, which was the first app launched by a third party. LifePics will also soon be launching an Android app, as well as integration with Facebook, Flickr, and Arcsoft MediaImpression, all stemming from the OPEN program, with many more affiliates and apps coming this year.

LifePics plans to formally introduce the OPEN program to the industry at the PMA 2010 convention in Anaheim, CA this month. LifePics will waive the $100 certification fee for the first 3 months following the PMA convention.
